Brothers Hike 60 Miles on John Muir Trail

David (Lebo) Kraemer ’78 recently sent us an update letting us know that he and Rick (Nippi) Neville ’76 were part of a group of four backpackers who embarked on a journey to tackle another 60 miles of the John Muir Trail to achieve their goal of hiking 120+ miles in 2 years. Last year, the group scaled Mt. Whitney, the highest mountain in the continental US. Read on for their future hiking plans.

Phi Psi Basketball Court Dedicated to Jim Barrett ’79

Brother Jim Barrett ’79, who succumbed to cancer in March of 2015, was very active at DePauw during his undergraduate years. He took on many Phi Psi Chapter and student government positions and was famous for his athletic abilities. Jim captained many intramural teams, but he was best known for his basketball skills. In honor of Jim, the class of ’79 started a fundraising campaign during the Sesquicentennial Celebration in his name. After discussing a number of options for how the money raised could be used, the class decided to leave the decision up to Jim's family.
